Archives: Early warning detection

This correspondence serves as a Letter of Reference for Gordian Fence SA.

Edifice Consulting Engineers and the undersigned worked with Gordian Fence SA on the Bonnytoun Place of Safety Fence Project from February to August 2018.

The project formed part of the Western Cape Government Department of Transport and Public Works Maintenance Program and had a project value was R15 million (including VAT).

The scope of the project included the removal of an old electrified fence and the placement of a new security fence and detection system around the correction facility, while the facility was to remain operational. The project was completed over a period of 26 weeks.

In our capacity as Principal Agent, Civil & Structural Engineers and Project Managers on this project we confirm that we did not experience any problems with the contractor, Gordian Fence SA on this project.

Gordian Fence SA completed the project timeously, while meeting the set quality criteria and keeping the project costs in check.

I have no hesitation in recommending Gordian Fence SA for projects of a similar nature.

In 2017 Gordian Fencing installed an early warning detection system at Allandale Correctional Centre after they erected a new fence around our premises.

Due to the fact that we had a problem with theft and vandalism even though the fence was erected we decided to install this system. Tags was installed over a 2.8km piece of fence at strategic points. After these tags were active in August 2017 we had a 100% drop in theft. Although the vandalizing of the fence still occurred for a short period after this it soon stopped because the system immediately tells you that somebody is tampering and patrols could respond.

This detection is picked up on web site and a sms is received immediately.

I can highly recommend this to anybody because we as a security risks area are very happy with this system.
